Other ways to earn SACE credits

You can combine school subjects with recognised learning options. These can help build credits through VET, community leadership, or study outside school. Learn more on the SACE recognised learning page.

VET and School-based Apprenticeships

Nationally recognised training, Certificate I–IV courses or SBAT arrangements can count toward SACE. Work with your VET coordinator to map the exact credits.

Community Learning

This covers self-directed projects or community-developed programs such as volunteering, leadership, caring responsibilities or sporting activities assessed by SACE.

University or TAFE Studies

Some tertiary units completed while at school count as recognised learning. Universities publish which short courses or extension subjects earn Stage 2 credits.

Recognised Programs

Approved programs like the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Australian Music Examinations (AMEB) and Defence Force Cadets provide preset SACE credit bundles.

Talk with your school or the SACE Board before enrolling to confirm how many credits each option provides and how it fits into your pathway.
